Was the Attack a Surprise to our Government?

1 . While listening to a news report, I think it was on Fox news television, it stated that an anonymous letter was sent to a radio station in the Caribbean. It stated that two men were overheard planning to crash an airplane into the World Trade Center. It was turned over to the FBI but no action was taken.

2 . The Israeli Mosad reported to the CIA that a cell of two-hundred terrorists were planning a major operation on highly visible targets. They indicated the terrorists had strong links to Iraq, according to the Sunday Telegraph-still no action.

3 . The FBI and other federal law enforcement agencies knew two terrorists had entered the United States but failed to take action. They also failed to inform the airlines to watch their boarding lists for the two terrorists, Al-Midhar and Nawaq Alhamzi, who were on flight 77 that hit the Pentagon.

4 . Thousands of "Puts" were traded just days before the 9/11 attacks . Insiders bought thousands of "Puts" of United Airlines and American Airlines stock. No other airlines experienced an increase in "Puts ". "Puts" make money for the investor when the stock goes down. Three times the normal "Puts" were sold just days prior to the attack, making up to five million dollars profit in only days. Some insiders knew the stock would fall, because planes would be crashed. Some may argue that the "Puts" were purchased by Bin Laden or his associates, which may be true. He may have purchased some of them, but what about the rest? Were there people in high positions invested? Where are the names of those who purchased them ? Have they been investigated? If it had been Bin Laden, wouldn't that discovery have been in the news? Where are the reports on the purchased "Puts"?

5 . The Oklahoma City bombing took place on the second anniversary of the attack on the Waco Davidian Church. The reported motivation was retaliation for Waco. According to reports, the intended target was the FBI and the ATF. Interestingly, not one FBI or ATF agent was in the Federal building at the time -indicating they knew the bombing was going to take place. I am curious to know who was missing from the WTC and the Pentagon on 9/11 ? Were there entire companies or key people mysteriously absent that day?

What about the Pentagon? The hijacker circled past the Pentagon and crashed into an area on the far side of its approach . Was it assigned to crash into a very specific part of the Pentagon ? Why didn't we hear a great outcry about high-ranking Generals and Pentagon officials who were killed in the attack? Could it be they were gone because they knew the attack was coming? Just curious.

6 . In 1995 the Philippine police found a laptop computer that belonged to a terrorist. The computer hard drive contained information about a plan to hijack airliners and use them as bombs . It was called Project Bojinka . Bill Gertz of the Washington Times reports:

"The use of hijacked airliners as terrorist cruise missiles has been known to be a tactic used by terrorists linked to Osama Bin Laden since 1995. That's when terrorist Ramsi Youssef was captured by police in the Philippines.

Computer hard drives were recovered during the arrest that laid out plans for spectacular terrorist attacks using aircraft ...

The operation called for hijacking U.S.-bound commercial airliners... The hijacked aircraft were to be crashed into structures in the United States, including the World Trade Center , the White House, Pentagon , the Transamerica Tower in San Francisco and the Sears Tower in Chicago..."

7 . Did the FAA know the attack was coming? The FAA had been warned about the danger of hijacking. They had been warned by concerned pilots that the cockpit doors weren't secure, and that pilots should be allowed to carry weapons. The FAA turned a deaf ear. They even blocked efforts to arm pilots, or place air marshals on planes.

Newsweek magazine on October 1, 2001, said the FBI had several of the terrorists under surveillance, and was tapping their communications. The terrorists said such things as:

" There is a big thing coming ," " They're going to pay the price ," and " We're ready to go ." Yet no action was taken.

8 . This article says U.S. and Russian agents planned a military action against Afghanistan IN JUNE for oil profits !!

India reacts.com report dated June 26, 2001 that India and Iran will "facilitate" U.S. and Russian plans for " limited military action " against the Taliban if the contemplated tough new economic sanctions don't bend Afghanistan's fundamentalist regime.

The Taliban controls 90 per cent of Afghanistan and is advancing northward along the Salang highway and preparing for a rear attack on the opposition Northern Alliance from Tajikistan-Afghanistan border positions.

Indian foreign secretary Chokila Iyer attended a crucial session of the second Indo-Russian joint working group on Afghanistan in Moscow amidst increase of Taliban's military activity near the Tajikistan border. And, Russia's Federal Security Bureau (the former KGB) chief Nicolai Patroshev is visiting Teheran this week in connection with Taliban's military build-up.

Indian officials say that India and Iran will only play the role of "facilitator" while the U.S. and Russia will combat the Taliban from the front with the help of two Central Asian countries, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, to push Taliban lines back to the 1998 position 50 km away from Mazar-e-Sharief city in northern Afghanistan .

Military action will be the last option though it now seems scarcely avoidable with the UN banned from Taliban-controlled areas. The UN, which adopted various means in the last four years to resolve the Afghan problem, is now being suspected by the Taliban and refused entry into Taliban areas of the war-ravaged nation through a decree issued by Taliban chief Mullah Mohammad Omar last month.

Diplomats say that the anti-Taliban move followed a meeting between U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell and Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov and later between Powell and Indian foreign minister Jaswant Singh in Washington. Russia, Iran and India have also held a series of discussions and more diplomatic activity is expected .

The Northern Alliance led by ousted Afghan President Burhanuddin Rabbani and his military commander Ahmed Shah Masood have mustered Western support during a May 2001 visit to Dusseldorf, Germany.

The Taliban is using high-intensity rockets and Soviet-made tanks to attack Northern Alliance fighters in the Hindukush range with alleged Pakistani aid. But Northern Alliance fighters have acquired anti-tank missiles from a third country that was used in the fight near Bagram Air Base in early June. The Taliban lost 20 fighters and fled under intense attack.

Officials say that the Northern Alliance requires a "clean up" operation to reduce Taliban's war-fighting machinery to launch an attack against the Taliban advance to the Tajik-Afghan border. This "clean up" action is being planned by the U.S. and Russia since the Taliban shows no "sign of reconciliation " .

Tajikistan and Uzbekistan will lead the ground attack with a strong military back up of the U.S. and Russia . Vital Taliban installations and military assets will be targeted . India and Iran will provide logistic support. Russian President Vladimir Putin has already hinted of military action against the Taliban to CIS nation heads during a meeting in Moscow in early June.

Masood's strategic stronghold of Panjsher Valley has been threatened by the advancing Taliban militia for the last three months. The Northern Alliance has stepped up its attack on Taliban troops who have brought the valley within artillery fire range.

Military planners say that if Taliban were not given a blow now it would slowly make inroads into the Panjsher Valley. The fall of Panjsher will enable Taliban to control the remaining ten per cent of Afghanistan in possession of the Northern Alliance.

Russia says it has evidence that the Taliban aims to create "liberated zones" all across Central Asia and Russia and links its Chechnya problem to the rise of Taliban fundamentalism. The U.S. is directly hit by the anti-U.S. thrust of Islamic groups who use Afghanistan as their base for terrorism and is demanding extradition of Osama Bin Laden to face trial in the embassy bombing case.

Such Central Asian countries as Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan are threatened by the Taliban that is aiming to control their vast oil, gas and other resources by bringing Islamic fundamentalists into power . Now all the CIS nations are seeking assistance of Russia's Federal Border Guard Service to overcome the Taliban threat .

Iran is also worried over the unending war effort of the Taliban to get supremacy in Afghanistan that is harming Iran's economic interests. India, Iran and Russia, for example, are working on a broad plan to supply oil and gas to south Asia and southeast Asian nations through India but instability in Afghanistan is posing a great threat to this effort.

The UN had sent a 12-member delegation to India in the first week of May to assess the feasibility of tough economic sanctions against Taliban. The same delegation met General Pervez Musharraf to convince him about the importance of Pakistani cooperation . The UN believes that the sanctions can be only as tough as Pakistan desires.

India's official position is for a "peaceful and lasting solution" to the Afghan problem. But it strongly advocates strict economic sanctions against Taliban and is also not averse to a " limited military action " to weaken it.

India plans to raise the Afghanistan issue in the forthcoming G-8 summit in Geneva in mid-July.

9. On November 2, 2001 the French daily Le Figaro reported that on October 31, while in a Dubai hospital receiving treatment for a chronic kidney infection last July, Osama Bin Laden met with a top CIA official - presumably the Chief of Station . The meeting, held in Bin Laden's private suite, took place at the American hospital in Dubai when he was a wanted fugitive for the bombings of two U.S. Embassies and the attack on the U.S.S. Cole.

Bin Laden was reported to have come from the Pakistan city of Quetta. He brought with him his personal physician, four bodyguards, and his nurse. The report says he was treated in the urology department headed by Dr. Terry Callaway.

Bin Laden reportedly has a severe kidney infection which has spread to his liver. Le Figaro claims a mobile dialysis machine was delivered to his Kandahar hideout in Afghanistan last year.

A French secret service report on September 7 warned of possible attacks, and that the order to act would come from Afghanistan . Le Figaro says very precise information on targets for attack was communicated to the CIA .

[ Ed. Note : Yet they did nothing. Silence gives consent and so does inaction. Even if the CIA/FBI had nothing to do with bringing on the attack, they are still guilty of innocent blood by inactivity.]

10 . What in the world is the United States doing giving $43 million dollars to the Taliban? They claim it is for farmers or is it for opium or war reparations in advance? I would like to know.

Secretary of State Colin Powell gave $43 million to the Taliban, to assist farmers who are starving since the removal of their opium crop by the Taliban regime. [Source: The Los Angeles Times, May 22, 2001]

11 . The Guardian , September 22, 2001, and the BBC , September 18, 2001, report that in July of this year three U.S. officials: Tom Simmons (former U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan), Karl Inderfurth (former Assistant Secretary of State for South Asian affairs) and Lee Coldren (former State Department expert on South Asia), met with representatives of the Taliban in Berlin and told them that the U.S. is planning a military assault against Afghanistan in October .

12. June 2001 - German intelligence, the BND, warns the CIA and Israel that Middle Eastern terrorists are " planning to hijack commercial aircraft to use as weapons to attack important symbols of American and Israeli culture." [Source: Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, September 14, 2001.]

13. Summer 2001 - An Iranian man phones U.S. law enforcement to warn of an imminent attack on the World Trade Center in the week of September 9 th . German police confirm the calls but state that the U.S. Secret Service would not reveal any further information. [Source: German news agency "online.ie", September 14, 2001]

14. August 2001 - The FBI arrests an Islamic militant linked to Bin Laden in Boston. French intelligence sources confirm that the man is a key member of Bin Laden's network and the FBI learns that he has been taking flying lessons . At the time of his arrest the man is in possession of technical information on Boeing aircraft and flight manuals . [Source: Reuters, September 13]

15 . Summer 2001 - Russian intelligence notifies the CIA that 25 terrorist pilots have been specifically training for suicide missions . This is reported in the Russian press and news stories are translated for FTW by a retired CIA officer.
