Israeli troops found a document that reveals a direct connection between terrorist attacks against Israelis and the Palestinian Authority. The document requested additional funding for chemical supplies to produce explosives, bombs and automatic rifle ammunition. These requests were made by the al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigade, which is a branch of PA Chairman Yasser Arafat's Fatah Movement. Col. Miri Eisin of the IDF's Intelligence Corps was quoted as saying, "What we have here for the first time is a document which connects directly those responsible for terrorist activity and their requesting the money from an official person within the Palestinian Authority, and not just any person, but Shubaki." Shubaki allegedly helped organize and finance the Karine A shipment of weapons to the Palestinian Authority. "We hold Yasser Arafat personally responsible for the violence the people of Israel are facing and this invoice of terror is further proof of the charge that the government of Israel has made against Yasser Arafat," quoted Dore Gold, Sharon's foreign policy adviser and former Israeli ambassador to the U.N.(1) (http://www.israelinsider.com/channels/diplomacy/articles/)

Israel will be receiving $200 million in aid from the United States, a move that was led by the Republican House committee. However, an additional $50 million was earmarked for humanitarian aid for Palestinians. The aid to Israel had strong bipartisan support which showed congressional solidarity. The following are quotations from Ariel Sharon at a news conference in the U.S. immediately before he returned to Israel after hearing of the attack in Rishon Letzion. "I came here, to the United States, to discuss the prospects of peace and stability in the region. I came to the United States to discuss the possibility of reforms in the Palestinian Authority, which are a necessary precondition to the advancement of the political process. There is no way to move forward on a political process with a terrorist, corrupt and centralist entity. I came to the United States to discuss the chances of convening a regional conference to advance stability in the region. Today, in the face of all our sincere efforts to move forward on the political path, we received another proof of the true intentions of the person leading the Palestinian Authority.

To anyone who tries to blackmail Israel into making concessions - either big or small - through the weapon of terror and intimidation, or tries to blackmail the state of Israel through sowing fear, I say today: Israel will not surrender to blackmail. He who rises up to kill us, we will pre-empt it and kill them first.
